Discord Management
After years of anticipation, Riot Games has decided to meet the expectations of Valorant fans with a release on consoles in the summer of 2024.
To welcome this new community, Riot has called upon Carburant for a redesign and optimization of the existing server, which already accounts for more than 250,000 members.
Our issue: How can we increase the server’s MAU while optimizing the users’ experience?
To answer this, we started with a complete audit of the server, beginning with its structure, going through a full review of each permission and role, and ending with security aspects which are crucial for such communities.
Secondly, we developed a POC (Proof of Concept) for the new server structure and adjusted the server according to community suggestions on various features and necessary improvements. These suggestions were collected through a dedicated channel for server suggestions.
Optimization of user journey: Simplify navigation on the server with more intuitive categorization and quick access to most-used sections. We also implemented new Discord features to help users easily find relevant information through the onboarding.
Strengthening community engagement: Creation of new channels to facilitate interactions among members as well as adding bots to facilitate the organization of matches on the server.
Improving user experience: Introduction of new features such as discussion rooms dedicated to different platforms (PC, consoles) and specific channels for each rank with associated roles.
Enhanced security and moderation: Implementation of new moderation policies including automatic detection tools for inappropriate behavior and ongoing training for the moderation team. We also improved reporting procedures to make the process more transparent and efficient.
To amplify these changes, we also created a pack of static assets and videos for Riot France’s social networks.
The assets were based on the new artistic direction associated to the console version of the game. The video summarizes the 4 axes of changes related to the server rework, in order to inform current users as effectively as possible while optimizing traction among new potentially interested users.
